Stihl MS880 vs Husqvarna 3120xp and 395xp (all saws ported, 3/8 chain test)
Of course, it was a bit unfair for the 395xp with nearly 30cc less displacement against these big boys, but i just wanted to see how good the saw could hang with them. So far and in my opinion the MS880 and the 3120xp are dead even in terms of performance. This test was mainly about to see how the bar mount conversion on the 880 works out. I think to show the real capabilitys of these big saws ...
Just some fun with a ported 395XP :D

Just for fun after making firewood, agressive chain :D
Stihl MS201 (rev. 3, domed piston) stock vs ported
The latest 201 model feels really good! They addet a new piston design to the saw. My choice of wood was sadly not the best, lots of woodtuft fungus in it on the first cuts. Here are some pic's of the new piston/chamber design imgur.com/a/nhcPE39
Echo 2511 TES stock vs ported

Awesome little saw! Portet it for a good friend (arborist). Hard to believe that it only has 25cc and less than 2.4kg dry weight. Should be a good addition for every arborists! I think, i will buy the backhandle version for myself sooner or later ;)
Husqvarna 390XPG woodsported, Cannon Bar, X-Cut chain
Just a small test cut with a brand new 390XPG i've ported for a good friend, i will later repeat with a square filed X-Cut chain for comparison ;)
562xp ported, X-Cut chain, Cannon Superbar (short test)
Just a short test cut with with Husqvarna's new X-Cut 3/8 full chisel chain and Cannon's high quality Superbar. The saw is a 562 i recently ported for a friend. Chain is untouched new-out-of-the-box.
395xp stock vs ported
Just a small comparison before and after some mods. The saw itself is from brazilian production. Unfortunately, Husqvarna has stopped the sale and production of new 390xp, 395xp and 3120xp in central europe recently (because of emissions regulations) and the production has been completely relocated to Brazil. So far, I see no quality difference between made in europe or made in brasil, no worry...
Stihl MS500i stock vs ported (first attempt)
my first try on porting the new fuel injected MS500i. I'm sure there's is even more power left in the saw. Looking foward to see how the saw will evolve in the next months in terms of porting and what other saw builders will get out of it over time ;)
MS500i vs MS462 vs 572xp vs PS7910 (all stock)
The new fuel injected (first ever) MS500i has some impressive stats on paper, 6.8hp/5kw with 79.2cc by only 6.2kg/13.6lbs powerhead weight. A lightweight powerhouse! I wanted to see how the saw keeps up against some comparable contenders. (Also, check out my test against some ported saw's. ) Now it's finally time to squeeze a bit more out of the 500i ;)
Stihl MS500i (stock) vs ported Solo 681, Dolmar 7900 and Husqvarna 390xp

The new fuel injected (first ever) MS500i has some impressive stats on paper, 6.8hp/5kw with 79.2cc by only 6.2kg/13.6lbs powerhead weight. A lightweight powerhouse! I wanted to see how the saw keeps up against some older but ported and modified contenders (i know its not that fair). At test against comparable stock saws will also follow.
Stihl MS500i, my fist cut
My first cut with the brand new MS500i, first fuel injected (to the intake manifold) chainsaw on the market. It has some impressive stats on paper, 79.2cc / 6.8hp/5kw with only 6.2kg/13.6lbs powerhead weight.
Stihl MS261 (2018) stock vs ported
Just a small comparison. The new 261 is already a light and powerful saw with 4,1hp by only 4,9kg/10,8lbs. After porting the saw woke up, with a good combination of torque and speed.
Dolmar 7900 stock vs ported with WoJo muffler
Here's the wojo'd dolmar from the last video with a port job (still the same untouched chain) what a strong 80cc saw! I'm really anxious to see now how it compete against the new stihl 500i injection saw (they share pretty much the same displacement). I will hopefully pick up a 500i for testing and porting in january ;)
Dolmar/Makita 7900 muffler mod only vs woodsported (oregon exl chain)
Quick match with the new oregon exl powercut chain in dry beech wood. The original 79 is stock except of the wojo dual port muffler (and will also be ported soon). I took the chance and put it against a freshly ported 6401 with a 7900 cylinder kit.

What saw do you find yourself preferring?

  • @JoshNoss
    @JoshNoss 3 месяца назад

The 395 responds very well to competent porting, the fact that its a traditional non-strato and a quad-port really make this the king of the 90cc class saws, the 592 is very hot stock but not much room for gains, a 10hp 592 is about max for that saw, a 10hp 395? Well thats easy.. ive seen 11.5-12hp 395 work saws that last. Gotta say that i still prefer the 592 though from a point of comfort and weight it wins

Great comparison. Would have loved to see 3 cuts and a new chain or sharpen each time. Otherwise great job. Thank you!! In the end they are all great saws! The 462 surprised me over 500. Knew they were close, but expected 500 to barely win. Still debating on either a 462 or 572 for my next saw.

I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle ruclips.net/user/postUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.
